CTOnews.com, July 4 (Xinhua)-- according to a technology patent announced by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has recently obtained a new technology patent numbered US 20230209880 A1, suggesting that it will launch Mac and iPad with borderless screens in the future.

The patent for this technology is called "frameless display with optical bending structure".

Apple says size and weight are important considerations in designing a full-screen device, which, if not paid attention to, could result in a very bulky display device or a very thick frame.

Apple believes that although it is possible to adjust the shell of an electronic device, it will lead to an undesirable expansion of the size and weight of the shell, as well as the unaesthetics of the device.

An electronic device can provide a display screen installed in the housing. The display may have an array of display pixels to provide image light to the user.

The display pixel array can form an active display structure with a rectangular shape and be wrapped with an optical structure such as a glass sheet or another optical component.

The area of optical components can be larger than that of active display structure, so the existence of optical components can play a role in expanding the surface size of the display.
