Documents filed by the European Commission on Monday show that EU antitrust regulators will decide by August 7 whether to approve Adobe's $20 billion acquisition of cloud-based designer platform Figma.

Adobe sought EU approval for the deal on Friday. Making the request a month before the summer holidays indicates that the company expects EU competition enforcement agencies to launch a full investigation into the deal after an initial review.

The European Commission warned earlier this year that the deal could seriously affect competition in the interactive product design and whiteboard software markets.

Figma's web-based design and brainstorming collaboration platform is popular among tech companies, with clients including Zoom Video Communications, Airbnb and Coinbase.

Britain's competition watchdog on Friday gave Adobe a week to provide remedies to address its concerns or face a deeper investigation into the acquisition.
