The Atlas900 AI cluster serves as the smart base of the computing center, and the computing utilization rate has exceeded 82%. The first stop is Qingdao artificial Intelligence Computing Center, which is located in Qingdao artificial Intelligence Industrial Park and was officially launched in February this year.
Qingdao artificial Intelligence Computing Center built 100p computing power in the first phase. What is the concept of 100p computing power? Its computing speed has reached 1 billion times per second, which is about equivalent to the computing power level of 50,000 high-performance PC!
According to the on-site staff, the operation team made a research on the arithmetic demand of regional enterprises, scientific research colleges and universities, etc., with more than 270 research units and 120p arithmetic demand. Therefore, Qingdao artificial Intelligence Computing Center is launched to achieve large-scale operation, for the majority of Qingdao computing users to carry out AI empowerment.
The core equipment of the computing center is the Atlas 900AI cluster, which is composed of thousands of Penton training processors. Through Huawei's trunked communication library and job scheduling platform, it integrates three high-speed interfaces of HCCS, PCIe and RoCE to fully release the powerful performance of the Penton training processors. It can enable researchers to train AI models such as images, voice and natural language more quickly, carry out scientific research more efficiently, and speed up the commercial process.
It is reported that the computing power utilization rate of Qingdao artificial Intelligence Computing Center has reached 82%. As of June 20, 2023, it has worked with Haier, Hisense, CRRC Sifang, the first Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ocean University of China and other 50 leading enterprises, scientific research institutions and universities to realize more than 70 algorithm model innovations in six fields: smart ocean, safe city, intelligent transportation, industrial quality inspection, intelligent manufacturing and intelligent electric power. More than 120 scene solutions have been incubated.

Combined with the location advantages and industrial characteristics of Qingdao, Qingdao artificial Intelligence Computing Center promotes AI cutting-edge research in the marine field, forms many important scientific research achievements in the marine meteorological field, and uses AI to promote the development of marine science.
At the second stop of Ocean University of China, Professor Dong Junyu, Minister of Information Science and Engineering and Dean of the Institute of artificial Intelligence, shared with us the Arctic Sea Ice Model and the Langyapo Marine Environment Forecast Model.
Specifically, the Langyapo marine environment prediction model adopts Huawei's full-scene AI computing framework Mindspore, and relies on the surging computing power of Qingdao artificial Intelligence Computing Center to realize three parts: real-time correction of sea surface wind field, real-time correction of ocean waves and strong convection forecast.
The Langyapo marine environment forecast model can be regarded as the first "ChatGPT" in the field of severe convection in the world. It can combine the characteristics of rainfall climatology and construct a pixel-level space-time codebook of global strong convection. In the future, it can forecast the approaching of strong convection in any region of the world without training, so as to help Qingdao seize the commanding height of disaster early warning in the field of global marine meteorology.
"Langyapo" Marine Environment Forecast Model-strong Convective 30min Forecast case Arctic Sea Ice Model will also improve the real-time prediction ability of Arctic sea ice and other ocean conditions in the future, and realize the operational operation of the first Arctic sea ice submileage forecasting system based on artificial intelligence. Compared with the traditional numerical simulation prediction, the prediction accuracy and time delay are increased by 10% and reduced by more than 20% respectively. Provide decision-making basis for Arctic scientific research, shipping and exploration, establish high-resolution digital twins in Arctic waters, and provide comprehensive and accurate data support for scientific research in the Arctic.
The intelligent "White Dragon" buoy was launched for the first time, and Teng AI brought three major technological upgrades to the third stop to the National Deep Sea Base Management Center, where we witnessed the sea trial of the intelligent "White Dragon" buoy based on Pengteng AI.
The "Bailong" buoy is the first domestic 6000-meter anchor buoy system independently developed by the first Ocean Research Institute of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and it is an important supporting platform for deep-sea climate observation. The Bailong buoy can carry multi-factor sensors to realize high-frequency sampling of marine hydrological elements and sea surface meteorological elements, and use Iridium / Beidou / Tiantong / 4G communication means to transmit the observed data to the shore station data center in Qingdao in real time.
It is understood that since 2010, the Bailong buoy has been successfully placed in the Indian Ocean, the South China Sea and other waters, and in 2012 in the Andaman Sea to achieve 13 months of continuous observation and real-time communication. After more than 10 years of arduous research and development, by 2021, Bailong buoy technology has reached the international advanced level of similar buoys, with fully independent intellectual property rights and modular level of all independent innovation. This is also the third series of deep-sea climate observation anchor buoys in the world after the TAO buoy of the United States and the TRITON buoy of Japan.
The sea trial is an intelligent Bailong buoy, which is upgraded intelligently based on the original Bailong buoy and using the edge computing technology of the basic software and hardware platform of Pengteng AI.
According to Ning Chunlin, a senior engineer at the first Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the performance of the white dragon buoy has been improved mainly in three aspects after joining the Pengteng AI.
First, the buoy real-time monitoring data and artificial intelligence algorithm are used to identify the key processes of the ocean and realize encrypted observation. According to Ning Chunlin, the buoy could not identify key ocean phenomena on the spot at the buoy end. At present, we use AI to build models of key ocean processes, such as internal wave identification model, which can identify internal waves through the real-time SST data observed by Bailong buoy. After actively identifying internal waves, we can carry out encrypted observation in time, so as to obtain internal wave data with high temporal and spatial resolution.
Second, use the video surveillance data on the buoy and artificial intelligence algorithm to identify the surrounding ships and people and carry out early warning and on-site forensics. The pictures taken by the camera installed on the buoy are identified by AI. When the ships and people are identified and judged that they will be closer to the buoy, the acousto-optic equipment installed on the buoy will issue a warning and immediately send the photos back to the shore station for forensics.
Thirdly, the buoy underwater high-speed camera data and artificial intelligence algorithms are used to identify and classify marine plankton. Originally, it was necessary to retrieve the plankton photos and carry out image post-processing recognition and classification in the laboratory. On the intelligent Bailong buoy, there is a profiler which can rise and fall independently along the plastic-coated cable, and the buoy can directly identify and classify the images obtained by the plankton camera on the buoy on the spot by AI.
By providing energy-efficient computing power, the intelligent transformation of the satellite into the Teng AI empowers not only ocean exploration, but also the ability to make the "satellite" speak. So, in the fourth stop, we came to Qingdao Research Institute of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

According to reports, the on-board real-time computing system is mainly based on Huawei Atlas 200AI acceleration module, together with the use of FPGA and other key devices to greatly ensure the safe, reliable and efficient delivery capability of the project.
Secondly, the payload platform of the spaceborne real-time computing system also has the core advantages of low power consumption, high computing power, high reliability, miniaturization and strong adaptability, which can meet the needs of deep learning computing and general computing in orbit. provide high energy-efficient computing capability at the edge of the satellite, through real-time processing in orbit, the value of the first time to reach customers, to help the satellite intelligent transformation.
In the future, it will be applied to all kinds of satellites in the commercial aerospace field, greatly enhance the AI computing capability of satellites, strongly support the landing of natural resources protection, regional situation awareness and other scenarios, and will also be synchronously extended to all kinds of industries that are sensitive to energy consumption requirements in the future, such as autopilot, edge computing and so on.
