This is also the first flight mission of the Hainan commercial space launch site.

According to Shou Junming, deputy technical chief and head of the launch department of Hainan International Commercial Space launch Co., Ltd., the long March 8 has made some performance improvements based on the basic rocket. for example, the two-stage rocket has been changed from a 3-meter diameter hydrogen and oxygen module to a 3.35-meter diameter, and the engine has changed from 7.5 tons of "liquid engine 75" to 10 tons of thrust "liquid engine 77". The carrying capacity of its 900 km solar synchronous orbit has been increased to 6.8 tons to meet the needs of the first flight mission.

According to the public information queried by CTOnews.com, the CZ-8G rocket has a total length of 50.5m and a take-off mass of about 371t, which can meet the requirements of payload weight gain, envelope and entry height, further enhance the payload launch capacity of low and medium orbit, and meet the urgent needs of China's future network launch of giant constellations such as communications, navigation and remote sensing.

Compared with the long March 8, the CZ-8G is also a two-and-a-half-stage rocket: the core stage is a liquid oxygen kerosene propellant module with a diameter of 3.35m, which uses two YF-100 engines, which has the same thrust regulation ability as the CZ-8 basic type, and the core second stage is the newly developed 3.35m diameter hydrogen and oxygen final stage, using two YF-75H engines. It is bundled with two 2.25m diameter liquid booster and uses a YF-100 engine, which is consistent with the basic state of CZ-8; using a 5.2m diameter integral hoisting fairing, the take-off thrust is about 480t, and the take-off thrust-weight ratio 1.29700kmSSO mission carrying capacity is not lower than 6400kg.
