CTOnews.com, July 2, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, Apple is developing a new Mac external display that can also act as a smart home device display in low-power mode.

It is understood that this display will have a built-in iOS device chip, but unlike Studio Display, which can only use the chip to achieve Center Stage character centering and spatial audio, this new display can become a smart home control center in its spare time, allowing users to easily manage all kinds of smart devices at home.

CTOnews.com noted that there was speculation that the software interface of the smart display might be similar to the standby function introduced by iPhone in iOS 17. The smart display is still in development and will not be released until next year at the earliest, Gurman said.

Gurman also revealed that Apple is also developing follow-up products for Pro Display XDR and Apple Studio Display displays.
