CTOnews.com July 3, Tesla now released the latest Q2 delivery data, and announced that the financial results for the second quarter of 2023 will be announced after the market closes on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

In the second quarter of 2023, Tesla produced nearly 480000 electric vehicles worldwide and delivered 466140 electric vehicles in the global market, up from 423000 in the previous quarter and exceeding Wall Street expectations, including 446915 for Model 3 / Y and 19225 for Model S / X.

Second quarter of 2023 (year-on-year change):

Total production: 479700 vehicles (up 86%)

Model 3 / Y production: 460211 vehicles (up 90%)

Model S / X production: 19489 vehicles (up 19%)

Total delivery: 466140 (up 83%)

Model 3 / Y delivery: 446915 vehicles (up 87%)

Model S / X delivery: 19225 vehicles (up 19%)

First quarter to second quarter of 2023 (month-on-month change):

Total output: 920508 (up 63%)

Model 3 / Y production: 881582 vehicles (up 65%)

Model S / X production: 38926 vehicles (up 27%)

Total delivery: 889015 (up 57%)

Model 3 / Y delivery: 859095 vehicles (up 61%)

Model S / X delivery: 29920 vehicles (down 3%)

In fact, this is Tesla's largest-ever delivery quarter, an increase of 83 per cent compared with last year, but Tesla sold 13560 fewer cars than the cars produced during this period (sales increased by 10 per cent). This also exacerbates the problem of inventory glut that began this year.

Elon Musk attributed Tesla's better-than-expected performance in the second quarter to government incentives and price cuts.

The rules that came into effect this year allow buyers of Tesla cars in the United States to qualify for a $7500 federal tax credit. With this offer, the cheapest Model 3 sedan costs less than $33000 (CTOnews.com Note: domestic models start at 231900 yuan), which is cheaper than similar gasoline-driven luxury cars sold by Mercedes-Benz and BMW, and in line with mass-market cars such as Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
