CTOnews.com, July 2, the Steam summer sale officially opened in the early hours of June 30 and will last until July 14, during which you can buy Steam Deck with a 20% discount.

At the same time, Steam has also updated the display of game discounts in some European countries, so that players can see the lowest price of the game in the past 30 days on the store page.

Officials say the update is mainly in response to new legal regulations in the European Union, so it is only applicable to several European countries, such as Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Romania and Sweden.

In fact, this feature has been tested in some areas as early as a month ago.

The EU regulation, known as Enforcement and Modernisation Directive, has been amended on the basis of four existing directives, so it is called the "comprehensive directive" and aims to extend traditional consumer rights online.

The Consolidated Directive was first adopted in 2019 and entered into force in July last year, but it has only recently been accepted by a few countries. The legislation aims to prevent game stores from changing prices frequently, so Valve has to mark the lowest price within 30 days on the Steam page, and it is not clear whether Valve plans to promote the feature globally.

CTOnews.com warns that you can also choose to use IsThereAnyDeals, SteamDB or other third-party inquiry sites or plug-ins to view historical low prices, but EU regulations apply to all game platforms and publishers, so there will certainly be more platforms to follow and hopefully spread to more regions.
