Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com On July 2, Microsoft released a new blog post explaining various security features of Windows 11. Microsoft says Windows 11 provides excellent hardware-based security from the factory, without having to go into various settings to set it yourself.
While Microsoft introduced certain security features during Windows 10, such as TPM or PTT and Secure Boot, Microsoft enforced such security features on Windows 11, such as TPM 2.0 and CPU limits, which many CTOnews.com users complained about.
What's interesting: Microsoft initially seemed to consider applying these measures to Windows 10 itself, but ultimately didn't. David Weston, vice president of enterprise and operating system security at Microsoft, said:
It simplifies everything for users, including IT administrators who may not be security experts. You can change the configuration as needed to optimize Windows 11 protections, or rely on default security settings. Security-Default gives users the same flexibility, allowing them to safely choose their own apps while maintaining security.
Microsoft details the benefits of features such as TPM 2.0 and VBS. In addition, the company showed off a presentation explaining how these features protect against cybersecurity threats such as hackers.
However, security researchers have recently identified a new vulnerability called "faulTPM," which could lead to bypassing AMD systems 'fTPM and cause Windows components such as Defender to fail to detect TPM.
These shortcomings may be fixed in future versions of Windows 11, as Weston also stressed that Microsoft is further improving the security aspect, even hinting at bringing more chip-level protection features that combine modern hardware and software:
Future versions of Windows 11 will continue to add important security updates, providing more protection from the chip to the cloud by combining modern hardware and software.
Windows 11 is a better way for everyone to collaborate, share and showcase, all with confidence in hardware-based security.
It is worth mentioning that Microsoft has previously introduced Microsoft Pluton security coprocessor, but failed to make it mainstream, because it only works on AMD platform, but there are rumors that Microsoft may make Pluton a mandatory system requirement for Windows 12.
