Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com WindowsLatest has noticed that a large number of Windows 11 users have reported an issue with system updates causing SSD speeds to drop, such as copying large files from one location to another or playing large games.

In fact, since March 2023, users have been reporting longer PC boot times and slower SSD speeds.

Users on forums, Reddit, Microsoft Feedback Center, and other online platforms have pointed out that Windows 11 mandatory cumulative updates released since March 2023 have significantly slowed down some SSDs. This also includes the most recent June 2023 update or upcoming July patch.

Fortunately, this problem is not common, but it is real, but the trigger conditions are not clear. Some Reddit users claim that SSD speeds have dropped dramatically from 7000MB/s to 3000MB/s or even below 1000MB/s in some extreme cases.

Interestingly, when they uninstalled the March 2023 patch it seemed to restore SSD speeds to 7000MB/s, meaning the issue could be related to the most recent update.

According to CTOnews.com, at least the following cumulative updates have this issue:

The upcoming July 2023 patch was updated Tuesday because the issue existed in the June KB5027303 optional update.

KB5027231 -Patch Tuesday June 2023 (mandatory).

KB5026372 -Patch Tuesday May 2023 (mandatory).

KB5025239 -Patch Tuesday April 2023 (mandatory).

KB5023778 -Tuesday Patch March 2023-This update flags the issue for the first time, while KB5023706 is also affected.

Faced with these issues, some users expressed concerns about Windows 11 development priorities. Of course, as Microsoft continues to introduce advanced AI features to Windows 11, this problem may still exist for some time.

In a post on Microsoft's Feedback Center, Microsoft officials confirmed they had received the bug report but had not yet provided a solution, and it was unclear whether the tech giant was working to fix the problem.
