CTOnews.com, July 1 (Xinhua)-- Apple announced two years ago that it would invest more than $1 billion in North Carolina, more than half of which will be used to develop Raleigh and Durham's Research Triangle Park (Research Triangle Park). Now the official has submitted the first phase of the project development plan to the local municipal government.

CTOnews.com quoted Triangle Business Journal media as saying that the first phase of the Research Triangle Park covers an area of 41 acres (CTOnews.com: about 166000 square meters), including six buildings and a parking lot.

It is reported that the first phase of the project has a total office space of more than 700000 square feet (65000 square meters) and ancillary space of 190000 square feet (17700 square meters), providing 3000 parking spaces.

Of the six buildings under construction in the first phase, there are three main office buildings, the largest of which has an office area of 242000 square feet, and the other two have an office area of more than 230000 square feet. All three buildings are 73 feet high.

In addition, there are three smaller ancillary buildings, and a parking lot will be added in the first phase of the project.

The first phase of the project covers a total area of 41 acres and the park covers a total area of 281 acres. In an announcement about its North Carolina investment, Apple said it would eventually create at least 3000 new jobs in "machine learning, artificial intelligence, software engineering and other cutting-edge areas", with an average salary eventually approaching $200000.
