Based on the 32-bit architecture of RISC-V, the CPU is 4000 times larger than the circuit currently designed by GPT-4, has the same performance as the Intel 486 series CPU, and can run the Linux operating system.

This is the world's first fully automatically generated CPU chip without human intervention, the 65nm process, and the frequency has reached 300MHz. The related research paper has been published in June this year.

Based on the BSD binary guess diagram (Binary Speculation Diagram, referred to as BSD) algorithm, the researchers of Enlightenment 1 automatically generated the CPU design directly from the input-output (IO) of the test case using AI technology, and the chip was generated within 5 hours without any code or natural language description provided by the engineer.

CTOnews.com noted that researchers at New York University's Tandon School of Engineering had used ChatGPT-4 to generate a microprocessor chip through a simple English "conversation", an unprecedented achievement that could speed up chip development and hopefully allow individuals without professional skills to design chips.

As a chip automatically generated by AI, the scale of Enlightenment 1 CPU can not be compared with the current top CPU, but in the future, through cross-exploration of different artificial intelligence paths, the CPU automatically generated by AI is expected to reach or even exceed the level of CPU designed by human experts within 5-10 years.
