CTOnews.com, June 30, Japanese display manufacturer JDI announced today that it will reach a final strategic alliance agreement with Chinese display manufacturer HKC (Huike) by the end of September, which will be three months longer than the previously announced agreement.

▲ source JDI on the reasons for the delay, JDI said: "due to the need to discuss extensive and detailed arrangements, we will extend the consultation period based on the outcome of the negotiations between the two companies." JDI also expects the postponement of negotiations to have little impact on the company's earnings.

In April this year, JDI said it would work with China's HKC to develop next-generation display technology, and the two companies would jointly plan and build display manufacturing plants, using JDI's eLEAP OLED technology, with the goal of mass production by 2025.

Scott Callon, chief executive of JDI, has said: "this is not only a business alliance, but also an important strategic alliance. It will combine the technology of JDI with the cost competitiveness and huge capacity of HKC." He also said the alliance could build more than one new factory in China.

CTOnews.com previously reported that JDI, an Apple supplier, expects a combined net loss of 47.8 billion yen in fiscal 2023 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2.4 billion yuan), which means the company will lose money for 10 years in a row.
