The Code makes it clear that Douyin punishes some self-media accounts for "accurately erasing fans" and "restricting accounts from being followed" for improper behaviors such as "publishing homogenized content" and "creating fake people" to win traffic and fan attention.

The Code requires that users are not allowed to illegally get fans' attention for their accounts in the form of posting content, commenting on each other, and setting up user profiles.

The Code lists five typical violations, including: posting vulgar, edge-scrubbing and other eye-catching content that runs counter to mainstream values; publishing a large number of homogenized content with the same or similar themes; publishing false information related to public policy, public safety, culture, education and entertainment, and people's livelihood hot spots; publishing inappropriate remarks in hot events, or imitating hot-spot parties to get hot. Through user information or published content, create a false person, imitate the image of others, fabricate professional qualifications, mislead other users, and so on.

In accordance with the provisions of the Code, if the account violates laws and regulations and the requirements of the Code, the platform will not only punish the content or account, but also deal with the number of fans or related functions of the account to varying degrees according to the situation and impact of the violation. Specific measures include: erasing fans acquired by the account through illegal content or violations; emptying all fans of the account; restricting the account from being followed by others.

It is reported that, taking a video contribution as an example, when a Douyin user pays attention to the creator by watching a video, it is regarded as the source of his attention for a video. When there is a violation of the video, Douyin will erase the newly added fans of the creator in accordance with the "norms". "Fan erasure and other means are mainly aimed at the illegal behavior of creators, and the other rights and interests of corresponding fans will not be affected," said the head of Douyin security governance.

It is reported that the "Douyin illegal Powder rising Regulation" has been put into trial operation and will come into effect on July 3, 2023. Douyin has begun to deal with accounts that violate the norms.
