CTOnews.com, June 30 (Reuters)-the judge hearing the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) acquisition case against Microsoft has pressured FTC lawyers to know the data on call of Duty to understand why the shooter game has caused so much controversy.

FTC had asked a judge to stop Microsoft from buying Activision Blizzard for $69 billion because FTC thought it would give Microsoft exclusive rights to Activision Blizzard, one of the best-selling games of all time. FTC said the acquisition would put Nintendo and Sony in trouble.

San Francisco judge Jacqueline Scott Corley (Jacqueline Scott Corley) asked FTC lawyers where their economists got data showing that the deal would hurt consumers.

After a long and repeated discussion about how FTC came to a conclusion, Corley said bluntly: "it's all about a shooting game."

Beth Wilkinson, a lawyer for Microsoft, argues that call of Duty is not necessary for any game platform, saying the deal means the game will reach a wider range of users: "more consumers will get the game. It's good for gamers and good for Microsoft."

CTOnews.com previously reported that Microsoft had agreed to grant call of Duty to competitors in order to address FTC concerns. Microsoft CEO Nadella has previously said that the company has no incentive to reject Sony's PS mainframe in order to sell more Xbox hosts: "it doesn't make economic sense, it doesn't make strategic sense."
