CTOnews.com, June 29, according to Microsoft, Windows 10 and 11 users may encounter problems with Outlook and other applications that cannot be started after installing the latest Tuesday patch update (KB5027231, released June 13, 2023).

Microsoft says the Bug will affect 32-bit Office installed on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 (client-side versions 22H2 and 21H2, as well as Windows Server 2022).

CTOnews.com warns that not everyone who installs KB5027231 will encounter this problem, mainly on systems where security software is less than version 35.31.25 of Trellix Endpoint Security.

Although Microsoft changed the Office installer from 32-bit to 64-bit by default in 2018, many people may still be using 32-bit Office.

It is said that some users find that they cannot open Office or third-party applications after installing update patches of KB5027231 or earlier, and some known applications affected include Microsoft Outlook and other Office applications. When trying to open the affected applications, the event log will show an "module unknown" access violation error.
