TSMC also has news that capacity utilisation is starting to pick up after two consecutive quarters of declining revenue. It was reported last week that capacity utilization of TSMC's 7nm and the following advanced process processes began to rebound slowly after entering June.

The relevant media recently quoted sources from tool manufacturers in wafer factories as saying that TSMC's capacity utilization, especially the capacity utilization of 7nm and below processes, will increase significantly in the second half of this year.

It is worth noting that in the second quarter when the 5nm process began to generate revenue, that is, from the fourth quarter of 2020, 7nm and below processes have been the main source of revenue for TSMC, accounting for 49% in that quarter and more than 50% in recent quarters. The significant increase in the utilization rate of process capacity of 7nm and below, which is more expensive, will also boost TSMC's revenue.

The significant increase in capacity utilization of TSMC's 7nm and below processes may be related to Apple's orders and other major customers turning to more advanced process processes. According to foreign media reports, the two Pro versions of the iPhone 15 series that Apple will launch this autumn will be equipped with A17 bionic chips produced by TSMC's 3nm process. TSMC's 4nm and 5nm process will have more capacity to meet the needs of other manufacturers. After Apple begins to turn to 3nm, more manufacturers will use TSMC's 5nm and 4nm process.
