CTOnews.com, June 29 (Xinhua) A team of researchers from the University of Maryland recently used neural radiation field (NeRF) technology to reconstruct 3D reflections in the pupil to simulate the scene seen by the subject when taking photos.

The research team first needs a high-resolution photo of the face, then enlarges the image, emphasizes the reflection in the pupil, removes the artifacts caused by the cornea and the deformation caused by the shape of the eye, and finally forms a 3D model.

It uses depth learning technology to extract the geometric shape and texture information of objects from images from multiple perspectives, and then uses these information to generate a continuous three-dimensional radiation field, so that it can present a highly realistic three-dimensional model at any angle and distance.

The research team said that the current image generated by the model is far from perfect, but it can roughly identify objects, and has developed a special algorithm to enhance the 3D model.

The technology also restored two tearful photos in Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga music videos, and found that an object similar to the upper body was observed in Lady Gaga's eyes, but the quality of this restoration effect is still relatively poor.
