CTOnews.com June 29 news, according to Brazil's "Globe" reported that BYD Brazil President Tyler Li said that the company is about to open a new factory in Brazil, and confirmed that the company began selling entry-level electric vehicle Dolphin in Brazil, the listing price is 149800 reais (CTOnews.com Note: Currently about 223,800 yuan).

BYD Tyler Li said BYD is currently negotiating with the Brazilian federal government and the Bahia state government to build a local factory with an annual production capacity of about 150,000 vehicles.

Earlier media reports said BYD intends to buy Ford's factory in northeastern Brazil, which is located in Bahia and has an annual production capacity of about 300,000 vehicles. It has been discontinued in 2021 and is still owned by Ford.

CTOnews.com previously reported that BYD had signed a letter of intent with the Bahia state government in October last year and planned to invest about 3 billion reais (currently about 4.481 billion yuan) to set up an electric vehicle production base in an industrial park outside Salvador, the state capital, creating 1200 direct jobs locally.

Tyler Li said that in addition to processing lithium iron phosphate batteries, the new plant will also produce chassis for electric cars, trucks, buses and hybrid passenger cars. He also stressed that investment in the plant would be "unlimited."

BYD opened a factory in Campinas, Brazil, in 2015 to produce electric bus chassis and photovoltaic modules for solar panels. In 2020, BYD set up another factory in Manaus to produce lithium iron phosphate batteries.
