After investigation, the police found that the similarity of the two games in the server data table and server battle suit reached 100%, and the similarity between the server game suit and the client was also about 90%.

After further investigation, the police locked in three main suspects Lai Mou, Wang Mou and Wang Mou II. They used to be former employees of the reporting company and were responsible for the development of the game. Due to dissatisfaction with the development direction of the company, they set up their own company in Shenzhen after leaving their posts in 2021. Through cooperation with Liang Mou, project manager of a network technology limited company in Jiading District of Shanghai, and Yin Mou, actual controller, they provided them with illegally obtained source code, and purchased appearance files of game characters to modify the game. Then in Yin Mou, Liang Mou's company renamed online operation. Both parties agreed to divide the game business flow fund according to the proportion of 85% of the company where Yin and Liang belong and 15% of the company where Lai, Wang and Wang belong.

On February 9,2023, the police arrested Lai, Wang and Wang in Shenzhen, and arrested Yin and Liang suspects on June 2 and 3 respectively. After interrogation, all five suspects confessed to their crimes. According to statistics, since December 2021, the company where Yin and Liang belong has gained more than 150 million yuan of game revenue since the launch of this "skin-changing" pirated game. Among them, Lai Mou, Wang Mou, Wang Mou two share profits of more than 15 million yuan.
