CTOnews.com, June 28 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- the ReactOS development team recently released a new development report, which reveals that ReactOS has made good progress in porting x86x64 (x64).

In the newsletter, the ReactOS team explained "why the team will not release a new release after 2021". "the focus of the current work has shifted to quality releases rather than quarterly releases," they said, and "it is still not clear when the next version will be released because the goal is to make substantial large-scale functional updates."

The main goal of the ReactOS project is to provide an operating system that is binary compatible with the Windows environment and allows Windows applications and drivers to run as on Windows, but ReactOS is still in the alpha version, most of ReactOS's achievements are based on the 32-bit version, and the development team is working towards 64-bit migration.

Combined with the communication report, it can be seen that the x64 migration of ReactOS is still in its infancy, but its stability has been steadily improved.

ReactOS was almost impossible to run on the x64 platform, and even if it was started, it crashed immediately when the process was executed. Now, on the x64 platform, ReactOS has finally reached a state of "running".

Although there are still a lot of problems in ▲ drawing source ReactOS, and the compatibility is not as good as x86 version, at present, applications and hardware drivers in ReactOS on x64 platform can at least be used, but due to the lack of WoW64,x64 porting, we still can not run any x86 applications at present, and developers still need to continue to do some work in related aspects.
