Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, June 28 (Xinhua) Apple's macOS has not always been a safe haven, and security analyst company bitdefender has discovered malware called JokeySpy that targets macOS during routine testing and maintenance.
It is reported that Mac researchers at bitdefender stumbled upon a small group of files with backdoor capabilities that were actually part of a "more complex malware toolkit". Researchers have analyzed the outflow of malware, and they are still trying to track the complete malware toolkit.
The malware first appeared on April 18 this year and was uploaded anonymously on the VirusTotal website. After that, it began to spread on the Internet, with three variants (JokeySpy B / C / D).
▲ image source bitdefender researchers say the malware is written in Python, all variants are very similar, and share the same feature set, the biggest difference is the order of the two Python import libraries. They also believe that the outflow of malware accounts for only some of the malicious software packages, and that there may be more attacks against the macOS platform in the future.
