CTOnews.com, June 27 (Xinhua)-- Japanese technology company letterpress announced today that it has developed a flexible millimeter wave reflector that can reflect radio waves at the wavelength of 1-10mm used in 5G communications to the desired direction. The reflector can be packaged in wood grain or marble tone, or it can be directly used as wallpaper.

▲ source letterpress printing introduces that this millimeter wave reflector is thin, flexible and has a hypersurface structure that controls the direction of radio waves. The millimeter wave with a wavelength of 1-10mm can be reflected in any direction through the reflector.

The millimeter wave used in 5G has a strong linear propagation tendency, so it is difficult to bypass obstacles. So far, manufacturers generally choose to use metal reflectors to eliminate blind spots, but the reflectors are heavy, thick and not beautiful enough.

Letterpress said that the company will continue to develop millimeter wave reflection outdoor applications and participate in the application research and development of the next generation mobile communication standard (6G).

CTOnews.com previously reported that due to the short transmission distance, millimeter wave is currently only used commercially in a few countries such as the United States. As of 2022, 140 operators worldwide have millimeter wave licenses in 24 countries. But only 28 operators have actually deployed millimeter waves in 16 countries.
