Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, June 27 (Xinhua)-- IBM announced that it will buy Apptio, a company specializing in FinOps software, for $4.6 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 33.304 billion yuan).

IBM said it had reached an agreement with Vista Equity Partners that it would partially finance the acquisition. IBM believes that the acquisition of Apptio will help improve its IT automation capabilities and provide customers with more useful tools to "provide higher business value".

As a leader in FinOps software, Apptio has provided its software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions to more than 1500 customers, including more than half of the Fortune 100 companies. Its three main services are ApptioOne, Apptio Cloudability and Apptio Targetprocess, which help enterprises manage their IT spending, public cloud spending, and investment planning, respectively.

"Technology is transforming the business at an unprecedented speed and degree. To take advantage of these changes, it is critical to optimize investments and achieve better business value, and that's what Apptio does." Arvind Krishna, CEO and Chairman of IBM, said: "Apptio's products combine IBM's IT automation software and watsonx artificial intelligence platform to provide customers with the most comprehensive way to optimize and manage all technology investments."

In addition to increasing the number of services IBM can provide to customers, the deal also means that IBM will have access to $450 billion of anonymous IT spending data collected by Apptio, which may enable it to share new insights with its customers and partners.

According to the statement, IBM will use cash for the acquisition, which is expected to be completed later this year, subject to regulatory approval and other transaction conditions.

CTOnews.com Note: FinOps is the abbreviation of Financial Operations, which means financial operation. It is a combination of financial management and cloud computing resource management, which aims to help enterprises better manage cloud computing costs and improve efficiency and flexibility.
