CTOnews.com, June 26 (Xinhua)-- Super safe Nuclear Energy Company (Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation), headquartered in Seattle, USA, recently announced that it will build the world's first commercial micro-reactor assembly plant in Gadsden, Alabama, which is expected to start production in 2027.

Unlike nuclear power plants with large cooling towers, ▲ Tuyuan Ultra safe Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., miniature nuclear reactors are small and can be delivered to small commercial users, while providing large amounts of nuclear power-almost enough to support the electricity consumption of a hospital or a small campus. A spokesman for the ultra-safe nuclear company said the company's miniature nuclear reactor vessels are about 40 feet high and 12 feet in diameter, and each reactor can generate 15-30 megawatts of heat.

When the plant is completed, the ultra-safe nuclear power company will employ 250 professional and technical personnel and is expected to produce as many as 10 complete micro-reactor units each year. The company said the Gadsden plant would not use or store any radioactive material.

Miniature nuclear reactors are developing rapidly in the United States, and both government and private companies are promoting the development of the technology. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has signed a procurement agreement with an ultra-safe nuclear company and is pre-applying to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission to build a miniature nuclear reactor on campus.
