According to data released by China Information and Communication Institute on June 26, CTOnews.com, 26.037 million mobile phones were shipped in the domestic market in May 2023, an increase of 25.2% over the same period last year, of which 20.169 million were 5G phones, up 13.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 77.5% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

From January to May, total mobile phone shipments in the domestic market totaled 108 million units, down 0.7% from the same period last year. Among them, 5G mobile phone shipments were 84.967 million, down 1.4% from the same period last year, accounting for 79.0% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

CTOnews.com noted that in May 2023, domestic brand mobile phones shipped 22.434 million units, an increase of 35.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 86.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 31 new models were on the market, up 34.8% from the same period last year, accounting for 96.9% of the number of new phones on the market in the same period.

From January to May 2023, domestic brand mobile phones shipped a total of 85.54 million units, down 5.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 79.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; a total of 169new models were on the market, up 5.6% from the same period last year, accounting for 93.4% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

In May 2023, 25.196 million smartphones were shipped, an increase of 22.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 96.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. From January to May 2023, smartphone shipments were 104 million units, down 2.6% from the same period last year, accounting for 96.3% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In May 2023, 27 new models of smartphones were launched, an increase of 42.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 84.4% of the number of new models on the market in the same period. From January to May 2023, a total of 158 new models of smartphones were launched, an increase of 12.9% over the same period last year, accounting for 87.3% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.
