CTOnews.com, June 26 (Xinhua) Rogica, a software developer in Kumamoto, Japan, recently began selling cattle herding monitoring services using GPS systems, which attach communication devices similar to digital tags to the ears of cattle to monitor the location of the herd in real time.

According to ▲ Touyuan PexelsRogica, the service only requires a small tag that is about 3cm long, about 6cm wide and weighs 35g, plus a PC or tablet. The battery life of the digital tag is up to 10 years, and the monitoring system is developed by Ceres Tag, an Australian animal behavior monitoring company.

In order to balance the power consumption, the location information of cattle on the farm is updated on the Internet every six hours, but if abnormal behaviors such as injury and escape are found, the system will warn herdsmen in real time.

A Japanese ranch has launched the service for 10 cattle since 2022 to monitor the real-time movement of 100 cattle on 140 hectares of pastures. So far, although cattle occasionally fight for food, resulting in labels falling off, none of the labels have been damaged or lost.

In terms of fees, the price of the Niu'er digital tag is 35000 yen (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1757 yuan), and after starting the service, you have to pay 700 yen (currently about 35 yuan) for communication.
