The company buys vehicles from Chinese carmaker BYD and installs software and hardware such as operating systems and sensors that support self-driving.

The company provides automakers with a solution called Fanfare, which can deploy Autoware systems to ordinary electric vehicles to accelerate the production and popularity of self-driving electric vehicles (EV).

Japan completed a L4 autopilot test in April this year, and the Japanese government plans to commercialize autopilot services in 50 regions by 2025.

TierIV also plans to use the all-electric car for a rental service. The company expects to launch nine models, including light vehicles and go-karts, by 2024 and to produce 300 vehicles a year by 2025.

In addition to BYD, TierIV will also purchase vehicles from companies such as PIX Moving in China and FOMM in Japan, while the assembly and manufacture of self-driving cars will be commissioned by TONOX, a local special vehicle manufacturer.
