CTOnews.com, June 25 (Xinhua)-- YouTube recently announced that it will update its policy on cracking down on counterfeit accounts to further eradicate the negative impact of high-imitation accounts on the user experience. The relevant policies will come into effect on August 21.

The new rules introduce a number of new prohibitions, and violations of these policies could result in channels or accounts being suspended or even permanently frozen. For channels that operate fan accounts, officials explicitly require that the channel name or profile do not represent the original creator, artist or entity.

CTOnews.com collates these prohibitions as follows:

Use the same name and avatar as another channel, or insert a space in the name and replace the letter O with the number 0.

Use other people's real names, user names, avatars, brands, logos or other personal information to forge identities

Set up a channel with the same name and avatar as someone else's channel, and pretend that person posts content to the channel

Use another person's name and avatar to set up a channel and pretend that person makes comments on other channels

Claimed to be a "fan account" in the channel description, but did not explicitly mention the original channel in the channel name or introduction, maliciously carrying the video content of the original channel.

Impersonate existing news channels
