CTOnews.com, June 25 (Xinhua)-- the new rules of the Academy Awards have been officially finalized, and streaming service resources represented by Netflix and Apple TV+ have become more difficult to compete for Best Picture Oscars.

Photo Source: according to the new rules compiled by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Pixabay will take effect from the 97th Academy Awards in 2024, and films competing for Best Picture Oscars need to be released in one of the six cities in the United States for a week.

CTOnews.com Note: the new rules say one-week screenings must take place in one of the six US cities, and at least seven days of official screenings in 10 of the top 50 US markets within 45 days.

For films officially released after January 10, 2025, distributors must submit their distribution plans for verification by the Academy. Films released in non-US territories need to be released in at least 2 of 10 markets.
