CTOnews.com, June 24, according to Moneycontrol, an Indian financial website, Apple is in talks with a number of Indian banks to launch Apple Card services in the market.

It was reported that Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive, met with HDFC Bank's chief executive and MD Sashidhar Jagdishan during a visit to India in April to discuss the possibility of introducing credit card businesses Apple Card and Apple Pay to India.

CTOnews.com quoted the media as saying that according to Indian regulations, only banks are qualified to issue bank cards, so Apple is working with HDFC Bank to launch a joint Apple Card credit card.

The source also said that Apple and India's central bank and regulator, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), discussed the launch of the Apple Card model. Indian regulators have no plans to offer special treatment to Apple, requiring it to follow the usual procedures for joint credit cards.

Apple launched its Apple Card credit card business in August 2019 and is still exclusive to the United States.
