Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Xiao Zhan for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, June 22, according to the latest rumors, Tesla is preparing to acquire wireless charging company Wiferion, a company based in Freiburg, Germany, specializing in charging and power solutions. Wiferion, which claims to be a "leading supplier of automatic wireless power systems", has provided wireless charging solutions for more than 100 companies since it began developing products in 2015.

Last year, Wiferion entered the North American market through a global licensing agreement with WiTricity. WiTricity demonstrated its wireless charging technology last year, using a Tesla car.

According to a report by Business Insider, the German business register shows that Wiferion is about to sell its business to Tesla International Co., Ltd. (Tesla International BV). "shareholders intend to sell their shares in the company to Tesla International Co., Ltd through a purchase agreement," the register said. " Tesla International Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tesla, headquartered in the Netherlands. The publication also asked two Wiferion investors, who confirmed that the deal was under way, but did not say which company was involved.

The deal could be an important step for Tesla to move towards wireless charging devices. At a shareholders' meeting earlier this year, Tesla seemed to quietly show off a wireless charging device, with a Tesla parked on a wireless charging board in the garage, seemingly hinting at the imminent launch of a wireless charging module.

CTOnews.com notes that Tesla has also promoted certain projects by acquiring companies in the past. Tesla bought Maxwell Technologies in 2019 but sold it in 2021. The company also acquired Hibar Systems at the end of 2019 to help Tesla develop its own battery units, which it produces at multiple manufacturing sites, including California and Texas.
