CTOnews.com, June 22 (Xinhua)-- Apple released its first augmented reality headset, the Vision Pro, earlier this month, which uses a new authentication technology called Optic ID that identifies users based on the wearer's iris. But what if someone wants to try your Vision Pro, or if you want to share the device with your family at home? Apple's visionOS Software Development Kit (SDK), released today, tells us the answer.

Today Apple released its first visionOS SDK, which allows developers to create applications for Vision Pro. In addition to SDK, there is a visionOS simulator that allows us to learn more about some other details of the platform. One detail that Apple has not released before is that the system has a "guest mode".

Guest mode allows other people to experience other people's Vision Pro,Vision Pro owners can choose whether or not to enable guest mode. The Vision Pro owner can also create a password so that others using Vision Pro can use certain applications and settings without Optic ID.

Given the high price of the $3500 Vision Pro (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 25130 yuan), most families will not buy a Vision Pro for each family member. With guest mode, others can try the device and use features such as web browsing and watching videos without accessing the owner's personal data. According to the code seen by 9to5Mac, features such as hiding and deleting photos can be locked through Optic ID. In addition, for users who use prescription lenses, Optic ID will need multiple scans, similar to what happens when Face ID wears glasses and masks.

Starting next month, developers will be able to apply for the Vision Pro developer Suite. Apple will also open labs in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo for those interested in trying out their applications on Vision Pro before its launch.

Vision Pro will be available in early 2024, and developers can now download visionOS SDK by visiting Apple's developer website.
