CTOnews.com, June 22, Apple announced that Communications Security (Communication Safety) will be enabled by default in the system starting with iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma, which were launched this fall.

Apple first launched in the United States with the iOS 15.2 update in December 2021, and then expanded to Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

This option was optional in previous iOS versions, while in iOS / iPadOS 17, it is enabled by default for children under the age of 13 who are logged into Apple ID and enrolled in the Family Sharing program.

CTOnews.com Note: the communication security feature in Messages is designed to scan iMessage images sent and received on children's devices for nude content and issue warnings when harmful content is found.

If nudity is detected in a photo received by a child, the photo will be blurred and resources for child safety groups will be provided to the child. Nudity in a photo sent by a child will trigger a warning telling the child not to send the picture.
