CTOnews.com, June 21 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Samsung recently released the latest car processor, the Exynos Auto V920, which is based on 5nm technology and is the successor to the Exynos Auto V9 chip launched a few years ago and used in Audi cars. More information about this processor has now been announced.

The Exynos Auto V920 uses a 10-core Cortex-A78EA CPU, which Samsung says is 70 per cent better than the previous generation of Exynos Auto V9. In addition, the chip uses Xclipse GPU based on the AMD Radeon RDNA2 architecture, which is also used in the Exynos 2200 smartphone chip, which previously used ARM's Mali GPU. Samsung says the Exynos Auto V920 can drive up to six high-resolution screens, including dashboards and entertainment screens for front and rear passengers.

The Exynos Auto V920 is also equipped with a dual-core NPU (neural processing unit) that provides up to 23.1 TOPS of AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning) performance. Intelligent and autopilot functions can be provided by identifying objects in the camera picture in real time. The chip can also support up to 12 camera sensors at the same time and has a 144db HDR function to ensure auxiliary and autopilot performance without problems even if the light is poor.

In addition, CTOnews.com notes that the Exynos Auto V920 also integrates DSP (Digital signal processor) for audio processing and has three next-generation HiFi 5 cores that provide immersive audio and clear voice calls. The chip also has an embedded safety island certified by ASIL-B (Automotive Safety Integrity level B) to enhance security. The chip supports LPDDR5 DRAM, UFS 3.1memory and two 10Gbps 2x USXGMII / SGMII / RGMII Ethernet connections.

It is reported that the Exynos Auto V920 chip will be used in Hyundai Motor Company's cars to be launched in 2025 to support its infotainment system.
