Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the delivery of clues about the past. CTOnews.com, June 21, according to Bloomberg, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Bobby Kotick will appear in court this week to try to persuade a California federal judge to reject the FTC to block their deal. This is a key defense by Microsoft to complete its huge deal of $68.7 billion (currently about 493.266 billion yuan).
U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Jacqueline Scott Corley will host a five-day hearing in San Francisco on Thursday about the Federal Trade Commission's attempt to block Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
FTC filed a lawsuit in US District Court last week to prevent Microsoft from acquiring Activision Blizzard, arguing that it would hurt competition in the gaming market. If FTC gets a ban, Microsoft will have to abandon the deal by the July 18 deadline, or pay a $3 billion break fee (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 21.54 billion yuan). Microsoft admitted in court documents that if the ban takes effect, the deal is likely to fall through.
In order to refute FTC's allegations, Microsoft sent CEO Satya Nadella, Xbox director Phil Spencer, Xbox creative experience director Sarah Bond, Microsoft chief financial officer Amy Hood, Xbox game studio head Matt Buti, Microsoft games chief financial officer Tim Stewart and other executives to testify. Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick and CFO Amin Zelza will also appear in court.
Microsoft said the deal would give players more choices and accused Sony, one of the opponents of the deal, of not sending top executives to the scene. Jim Ryan, Sony's PlayStation director, will testify via video to discuss the issue of market competition.
The pre-hearing of FTC's lawsuit will begin on June 21, and the formal hearing will last for five days: June 22, 23, 27, 28 and 29. The deadline for Microsoft and Activision Blizzard to complete the deal is July 18.
