CTOnews.com, June 21 (Xinhua)-- Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of Google's artificial intelligence research laboratory DeepMind, has proposed a new way to test artificial intelligence at the human level in his new book, Bloomberg reported. He believes that traditional Turing tests do not really reflect the capabilities of artificial intelligence, nor can they show whether they have complex internal conversations or whether they can plan within an abstract time frame, which are key features of human intelligence.

The Turing test is a method proposed by Alan Alan Turing in the 1950s to test whether robots have human intelligence. In the test, human evaluators judged whether they were talking to people or machines. If the machine can impersonate a human, then it passes the test.

Instead of comparing the intelligence of artificial intelligence with that of humans, Suleiman believes that they should be given some short-term goals and tasks to make them rely as little as possible on human input and complete some specific work. He calls this process "artificial capable intelligence," or ACI, and in order to achieve ACI, Suleiman said, the AI robot should pass a new Turing test, that is, it gets $100000 in seed investment, which must be turned into $1 million. As part of the test, the robot must study an e-commerce business idea, make a product plan, find the manufacturer, and sell the product. He expects artificial intelligence to reach this milestone in the next two years.

"We care not only about what the machine can say, but also about what it can do." Suleiman writes in his book.

OpenAI released ChatGPT in November 2022, an artificial intelligence chat robot that can conduct conversations, generate code and write essays. ChatGPT has sparked a boom in the nascent artificial intelligence industry, and a recent McKinsey report found that the technology could even add $4.4 trillion a year to the global economy (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 31.59 trillion yuan).
