CTOnews.com, June 21 (Xinhua)-- Google plans to launch a new high-end Chromebook brand called "Chromebook X" by the end of 2023 (the final name may change), according to 9to5Google, citing unnamed sources.

It is reported that Chromebook X laptops must use specific hardware specifications, including AMD or Intel's latest processors, sufficient memory and high-quality cameras. In addition, Chromebook X will have some exclusive software features that a normal Chromebook does not have, such as real-time subtitles and virtual background during video conferencing, up to 16 virtual desktops, and Google cloud hard disk files fixed offline.

The Chromebook is a laptop based on Google's ChromeOS operating system, aimed at consumers who want a cheap, lightweight laptop. In 2022, Google partnered with PC manufacturers such as Lenovo, Acer and Asustek to launch Chromebook that can be connected to game streaming services, such as Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Games and NVIDIA's GeForce Now. These services allow users to subscribe to run and play games in the cloud without having to install or download them locally.

According to reports, Google will not produce any Chromebook X laptops on its own, but will be in charge of a third-party PC manufacturer. These PC manufacturers need to follow the hardware standards set by Google to ensure that Chromebook X provides better performance and experience. It is not clear how much the Chromebook X will cost and when it will be available, or whether consumers will be interested in the more expensive Chromebook, and CTOnews.com will keep an eye on it.
