CTOnews.com, June 21 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Microsoft will shut down Microsoft Bookings, one of its mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms, on July 15, according to a notice from Microsoft's 365 Management Center.

This means that after this date, users who have installed and used Microsoft Bookings will no longer be able to use the app, and Microsoft Bookings was removed from Apple's iOS App Store and Google Play Store in February 2023.

Microsoft Bookings, a service released by Microsoft in July 2016, was officially available to all Office 365 (now known as Microsoft 365) business premium users in 2017. Microsoft Bookings allows business owners to automatically schedule customer appointments, and customers can use a web-based form to select a specific date or time, or even specify the specific employees they want to contact.

Microsoft did not give specific reasons for shutting down Microsoft Bookings mobile apps, most likely because they were not used by many people, so the company decided to phase them out. Microsoft said in its message that mobile customers can still access web-based Microsoft Bookings services on browsers.

In addition, CTOnews.com noted that Microsoft also plans to phase out its current Windows mail and calendar application and use the recently launched new Outlook application to provide Microsoft 365 services. It was revealed a few days ago that mail and calendar applications will be replaced by the new Outlook from September 2024. However, due to feedback from Microsoft 365users, Microsoft has adjusted its email and calendar retirement plans and is "re-evaluating the timing and implementation of this change".
