Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, June 20 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- Microsoft has confirmed that it has no plans to launch a medium-term upgrade for the current generation of game consoles for the time being, because for them, Xbox Series S is the standard version of this generation, while Xbox Series X is the "mid-generation upgrade."
In the latest Digital Foundry Weekly podcast, Microsoft mentioned that the Xbox Series X is their mid-generation upgrade because they regard the Xbox Series S as a standard model, but the XSX has been released in advance.
Microsoft said it released Xbox Series X in advance so that players could "experience a mid-term upgrade of the console" from the beginning of this generation.
This is an interesting disclosure considering the performance differences between the two consoles and the fact that developers are not very satisfied with Xbox Series S.
It is worth mentioning that while Microsoft does not plan to update Xbox Series X | S, Sony is indeed working on a revamped PlayStation 5.
Referring to CTOnews.com 's previous revelations, @ Tom Henderson said that Sony will launch the 2023 PS5 with a removable optical drive in September and an upgraded model by the end of next year (temporarily called the PlayStation 5 Pro, but performance upgrades should not be the focus).
There is not much information about the new system yet, but as the development kit has been delivered to developers, more information is likely to flow out in the future.
In addition to the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony last month unveiled a streaming handset for the PS5, the Project Q.
This handset has a large 8-inch screen and has all the buttons and functions of a DualSense wireless controller. You can stream PS5 games on the handset via Wi-Fi (provided you have PS5).
However, there are no more details about the handset. Sony says the product is scheduled to go on sale by the end of 2023. More details will be announced in the future.
