CTOnews.com After "multiple conversations" with multiple fruit chain companies, Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O'Malley concluded that Apple is unlikely to release a fourth generation iPhone SE in 2024.

Analysts said that if Apple decides to launch a new iPhone SE after 2024, it may indicate that the company's rumored 5G baseband is not ready yet, which will benefit Qualcomm.

Apple has reportedly been preparing to develop its own 5G modem since 2018 and acquired most of Intel's smartphone modem business in 2019.

In April, Guo said Apple baseband production would begin in mass production as early as 2025, meaning that even iPhone 16 series phones launched later next year will continue to use Qualcomm baseband.

Guo has previously claimed that the design of the next-generation iPhone SE will be similar to the standard iPhone 14 model released last year, suggesting that the device will be equipped with a 6.1-inch OLED display and Face ID.

The current iPhone SE, released in March 2022, comes with a 4.7-inch LCD screen, Touch ID support, 5G, a 12 megapixel rear camera and A15 Bionic chip, starting at $429 in the United States (CTOnews.com notes: starting at $3499 in China).
