CTOnews.com June 20 news, the National Energy Administration released national power industry statistics from January to May: as of the end of May, the country's cumulative installed power capacity was about 2.67 billion kilowatts, an increase of 10.3 percent over the same period last year.

According to reports, the installed capacity of solar power this year is about 450 million kilowatts, an increase of 38.4 percent over the same period last year, and the installed capacity of wind power is about 380 million kilowatts, an increase of 12.7 percent over the same period last year.

From January to May this year, China's major power generation enterprises completed an investment of 238.9 billion yuan in power supply projects, an increase of 62.5 percent over the same period last year. Of this total, solar power generation was 98.2 billion yuan, up 140.3 percent over the same period last year, and nuclear power was 26.9 billion yuan, up 66.5 percent over the same period last year. The investment in the power grid project was 140 billion yuan, an increase of 10.8% over the same period last year.

You may not feel much about this number, so we might as well think differently. By the end of March, China's installed power generation capacity reached 2.62 billion kilowatts, ranking first in the world. Of these, the installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation was 1.33 billion kilowatts, an increase of 15.9% over the same period last year, accounting for more than 50% of the total installed capacity for the first time, reaching 50.5%, nearly three times the installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation in the United States.

CTOnews.com noted that the guidance on Energy work 2023 issued by the National Energy Administration recently proposed that the proportion of installed non-fossil energy power generation would increase to about 51.9% this year, and that wind power and photovoltaic power generation accounted for 15.3% of the electricity consumption of the whole society. According to the guidance, great efforts will be made to develop wind power and solar power this year. The guidance also mentions the need to put energy supply and price stability in the first place. By the end of 2022, the country's full-caliber power generation capacity was 2.56 billion kilowatts, of which non-fossil energy generation capacity was 1.27 billion kilowatts, accounting for about 49.6 percent of the total installed power generation capacity.
