CTOnews.com June 20, Samsung SDI recently participated in the InterBattery Expo held in Munich, publicly displaying the latest achievements in the field of solid-state batteries.
CTOnews.com, citing an official announcement from Samsung SDI, said the company plans to start trial production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and nickel manganese batteries later this year, and plans to start producing cylindrical 4680 batteries for Tesla's Model Y car as early as next quarter.
Samsung SDI hopes to build a prototype production line of solid-state batteries with the experience of manufacturing multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) accumulated over the years.
"the company plans to complete all solid-state battery test lines and start prototype production by the end of this year to ensure the integrity of solid-state battery development through multiple tests," Samsung SDI said in a press release.
Samsung AI demonstrated a high-quality energy storage solution called Samsung Battery Box at the Expo. The scheme uses a high-nickel battery pack system with a capacity of 3.84 MWh and can power 400 homes per day.
