CTOnews.com, June 20, Japanese carmaker Suzuki announced today that it will work with Japanese flying car developer SkyDrive to produce flying cars in Japan. The two companies aim to start production around the spring of 2024, and production will be carried out at Suzuki Group's existing plant in Shizuoka Prefecture.

▲ Touyuan SkyDriveSkyDrive was founded in 2018 and developed by CARTIVATOR, a volunteer group gathered by aircraft and drone engineers. The company has previously accepted investment from NEC, Suzuki and Kansai Electric Power, with the near-term goal of providing "air taxi" services at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, and SkyDrive is conducting joint research with Japan's national aerospace agency JAXA.

CTOnews.com has previously reported that SkyDrive launched its SD-05, a flying car for personal sale, in April at a price of $1.5 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 10.74 million yuan). Equipped with a motor and propeller, the SD-05 can take off and land vertically, with a range of 10km and a top speed of 100km / h. The plane can accommodate two people at the same time and is expected to be delivered to individual buyers after 2025.

In addition, Suzuki and SkyDrive reached an agreement in March to cooperate on the research, development and marketing of electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL).
