CTOnews.com June 20 news, Tesla's fully autonomous driving (FSD) beta software is not perfect, requiring drivers to pay attention to road conditions at all times, ready to take over the vehicle. CTOnews.com understands that in order to ensure safety, Tesla requires that owners who use the FSD beta version cannot leave the steering wheel for a long time, otherwise the system will issue a warning or even stop working. Such a design may upset some car owners because they feel they don't need to be so nervous.

However,@GreenTheOnly, a hacker known for exposing Tesla's hidden content, discovered that FSD beta software hid a secret feature called Elon Mode, named after Tesla founder Elon Musk. In Elon mode, the steering wheel alert function will be turned off, and the steering wheel vibration will not be alerted when the hand is off. Instead, the driver's status is monitored entirely through the in-car camera to ensure that the driver is not distracted.

Elon Mode also changes the intensity of the brakes so that the vehicle doesn't brake too hard in case of sudden deceleration. There may be other settings for this model that affect driving behavior, but they haven't been fully explored yet.

@greentheonly has cracked Tesla's software and hardware many times. In the process of using FSD beta version V11.4.3, he turned on "Elon Mode" and made a 965-kilometer road trip. Green said the trip was much better than his previous experience with the FSD beta, and he attributed the main reason to the fact that he wasn't as nervous and the steering wheel didn't have any alarms.

Green said he likes a more proactive driving style, so the FSD beta doesn't quite suit his tastes. Elon mode, he felt, would allow owners to enjoy autonomous driving more because they didn't have to pay attention to the shortcomings of the FSD beta. Green believes Tesla should position the FSD beta as a system that can achieve three-level autonomous driving under certain conditions (i.e., humans only need to intervene in certain situations), just like Mercedes, which may be better.

So how do you turn on Elon Mode? Green says you can either ask Tesla's people to open it for you or force your way into the software to activate it yourself. It is unclear whether the hidden feature will be open to the public or how it will be named.
