CTOnews.com Nicola Sebastiani, head of Sony Interactive Entertainment's PlayStation Mobile division, has resigned, according to MobileGamer.biz, which was founded two years ago. Nicola Sebastiani is a high-profile executive who joined Sony in 2021 after eight years at Apple, where he led Apple's business management team and later became head of content for Apple's gaming subscription service, Apple Arcade. Nicola Sebastiani was responsible for building PlayStation's mobile gaming team and played a key role in Sony's acquisition of Savage Game Studios. Less than a year after the deal was announced, however, he left the company for reasons that are unclear and whether he had joined another company.

According to LinkedIn, Kris Davies and Olivier Courtemanche have been promoted to co-heads of PlayStation Studios 'mobile games division. MobileGamer.biz Davis joined PlayStation in April 2022 as Senior Director and Head of Mobile Business Development, having previously worked at Kabam, Beeline Interactive and Capcom. Courtemanche was appointed Senior Director and Head of Mobile Products at PlayStation Studios in April 2022, after working at Meta.

CTOnews.com notes that SIE has secretly assembled a team of experienced mobile gaming talent over the past two years, recruiting talent from Apple, Kabam, Meta, Tencent, Super Evil Megacorp, Samsung, Niantic, Zynga, Riot and others. SIE President Jim Ryan said in a business briefing last year that the company expects half of its annual games to be released on PC and mobile platforms by 2025. PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst emphasized the role of mobile games in the PlayStation when acquiring Savage Game Studios, calling it a "complement" to its core console business. Hulst said: "As we have previously assured you, our plans to bring some of our games to PC do not undermine our commitment to the PlayStation community or our ability to continue making amazing single-player, story-driven gaming experiences." Our mobile gaming efforts will also be similar, providing more ways for more people to interact with our content and working to attract new audiences who are unfamiliar with PlayStation and our games.
