CTOnews.com, June 20 (Xinhua)-- Apple this week obtained a new patent for a HMD accessory that plugs an iPhone phone into a virtual reality or augmented reality headset for users.

Earlier, Apple unveiled its most anticipated AR hardware product, the Vision Pro, at its global developer conference. It sells for as much as $3499 (CTOnews.com Note: about 25053 yuan), which deters many consumers, and even Apple CEO Tim Cook is not sure if ordinary people can afford it.

Apple is also rumored to be working on a "cheap" version of Vision Pro, but even a "cheap" version may not be very cheap. Apple's new patent shows that users can put their iPhone or iPad in a slot connected to the headband, which looks like a pair of goggles. The patent also indicates that the iPhone will have a detection mechanism to communicate with the device and establish a wireless connection, which means Apple is exploring new ways for people to use their iPhone and iPad.
