CTOnews.com, June 19 (Reuters)-while promoting its chat robot Bard around the world, Google parent company Alphabet has also reminded employees to be careful when using its chat robot, including its own Bard, according to Reuters.

Alphabet has advised employees not to input its confidential materials into artificial intelligence chat robots, the person familiar with the matter said. Google confirmed the news, saying it was a long-term policy to protect information.

Some of them also said that Alphabet also warned its engineers to avoid using computer code generated by chatbots directly. Google says Bard may give inappropriate code advice, but it can still help programmers. Google also said it aims to be transparent about the limitations of its technology.

Google's caution also reflects the trend of corporate security standards, warning employees not to use publicly available chat programs. More and more companies around the world have put in place protective measures against AI chat robots, including Samsung, Amazon and Deutsche Bank. The same is reported for Apple, but the company did not respond to a request for comment.

According to a survey conducted by social networking site Fishbowl, 43% of professionals used ChatGPT or other AI tools in January, and many of them did not tell their bosses. The survey covered nearly 12000 respondents, including some employees from top US companies.

CTOnews.com noted that Google is promoting Bard in more than 180 countries, and Google said in an updated privacy statement on June 1: "do not include confidential or sensitive information in your Bard conversations."
