CTOnews.com, June 19 (Xinhua) Microsoft is planning to buy Activision Blizzard for $68 billion, the largest merger in the gaming industry's history. If the deal is approved, Microsoft will have well-known games such as call of Duty, World of Warcraft and Diablo IP. These games will be added to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service on the day of their release, bringing great value to players.

Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass game subscription service currently comes in two levels: the basic version costs $10 a month and can only be used on the console or PC; the ultimate version, which costs $15 a month, not only includes basic content, but also provides EA games, dual-platform support for console and PC, and cloud game features, allowing subscribers to download and play thousands of games on Xbox Game Pass indefinitely.

Fortunately, Microsoft does not intend to raise the price of Xbox Game Pass as a result of its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. According to documents filed by Microsoft to the court, the price of the service will remain unchanged even if masterpieces such as call of Duty join Xbox Game Pass after the deal is completed. This strategy may help Microsoft attract more subscribers and increase its competitiveness in the game market. It is also a protective measure, as regulators and courts may not approve of raising prices immediately after the deal is completed.

Page 25 of the document reads: "the acquisition will benefit consumers because call of Duty will be available on Microsoft's Game Pass on the day it is launched on the mainframe (and will not increase the price of the service based on the acquisition), as well as on Nintendo and other platforms that support cloud games."

In addition, the document also revealed that Activision Blizzard will continue to operate independently after the acquisition and retain its brand, cultural and creative freedom.

CTOnews.com noted that Xbox CEO Phil Spencer had previously said that Microsoft might eventually raise the subscription price for Xbox Game Pass in an effort to keep up with rising costs in the gaming industry.
