CTOnews.com, June 18, Intel has announced that the Core brand will be split into the new Intel Core Ultra for flagship and Intel Core processor brands for mainstream products. In the future, Intel processors will be named Intel Core Ultra 5-7-9 # # xx and Intel Core processors 3-5-7 # # xx parallel.

Among them, the 14th-generation Raptor Lake Refresh series desktop processor, led by Intel Core i9-14900K (KS), is expected to be released in October and has been confirmed to be compatible with the 700 series motherboard, which means the 700 series motherboard will support the third generation CPU.

CTOnews.com noted that ASRock and gigabyte have now launched new firmware that "supports the next generation of Intel CPU". For example, the B760M is one of the first chipsets to be supported by BIOS and can use all Intel's next products.

As shown in the figure below, the version 5.04 BIOS update unlocks support for next-generation CPU and brings optimizations for CPU and memory, as well as support for non-binary 24GB / 48GB DDR5 memory.

Although Intel has not confirmed plans to update its desktop platform, there is no doubt that the next Raptor Lake-S series will be "upgraded", including desktop platform (Core-S) and fever-level mobile platform (Core-HX).
