Intel said the plant would help meet Intel's key needs for assembly and testing capabilities by 2027. Intel is expected to invest as much as $4.6 billion in the facility (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 32.798 billion yuan). When completed, the facility will support about 2000 Intel employees. The construction of the facility is expected to create thousands more jobs.

The design and planning of the facility will begin immediately and construction will begin pending the approval of the European Commission.

Poland was chosen as the site of the new factory for several reasons, including its infrastructure, a strong talent base and an excellent business environment. The new base could also work with Intel's planned cutting-edge wafer manufacturing base in Germany and its existing cutting-edge wafer manufacturing base in Ireland. Close cooperation between the three manufacturing sites helps to improve the flexibility and cost efficiency of the European semiconductor supply chain.

Intel said the high-paying permanent jobs created by the facility would include engineers and business support functions, plant operators and equipment technicians. Poland has a strong technical talent base and several excellent universities with strong engineering courses. This strong labor and talent base is crucial to Intel's 30-year operation in Poland.
